Things to do this month on Ibiza - March 2019

What to do this month on the White Isle.

A trip to Ibiza always reveals plenty of things to do and with some amazing weather right now, it's time to get out and about and explore the island. With lots of chances to see one of the fabulous carnival parades, you'll be able to see how the locals have fun when there's not so many tourists about.

If you are looking for parties, then you simply must check out our new regular monthly article Ibiza Party Highlights. Now it's time to make like mad March hares.

Quad time

All month long

If you want to see the Ibiza countryside, gorgeous coastline and generally have a great rip-roaring time, then get in with one of E Move's quad bike adventures. See ancient irrigation systems, an incredible sunset at the Jurassic Punta Galera and whizz along dirt tracks and country lanes. These tours have a real universal appeal, when you'll find your inner wild thing.

Love the Balearics

1-3 March

Balearics Islands' Day comes but once a year. This year there's a series of free events. On the main day 1 March, head to the Ibiza Town exhibition centre (recinto ferial) where you can join in on a celebratory lunch, see a music concert and dip into the artisan market. On Sunday, there's a motocross event in Santa Gertrudis and an eastern dance exhibition at San José's Can Jeroni cultural centre. Be Balearic if only for a day or two.

Carnival comes to town

3-9 March

All over Ibiza it's time to catch the carnival. Think Mardi Gras style parades with colourful floats, superb dance routines, fabulous costumes from film and stage and lots of happy faces. With a parade taking place in most towns on Ibiza and in Formentera's capital, San Francisco on various of the coming days, there's no excuse to miss it. See our news piece to find out where and when to go.

Food indulgence

9 March

A brand new annual event, the Calçots Festival means we can eat these lovely food things before the season finishes at the end of March. For the uninitiated, these are big roasted spring onion like spears, which you peel and dip into a spicy romesco sauce. Taking place at Forada's Saturday market (just outside San Antonio), there's live music, craft beer and fun for kids too. It's a messy, greedy and gluttonous, delight. If you miss it, there's still chance to try them in these places.

Time for a month of pinchos

14 March - 18 April

That's right, a month-long festival. Pintxa San Antonio offers a wealth of mini tapas, or "pinchos" across lots of restaurants in and around the resort. With savoury, sweet, vegetarian and vegan options, you will be spoilt for choice. How to do it: have a couple of pinchos and a drink and then head on to the next venue and do it again. Yes, eat and repeat with lots of fun on the way. If your legs get tired then there's a road train to take you from venue to venue.

An Ibiza wedding

16-17 March

Each year, more and more people choose to get married here, so why not get yourself over for Ibiza Bridal Week at Santa Eulalia's congress centre. It's a great one-stop-shop to meet with people to help with your wedding with planners, caterers, performers from the worlds of music and dance and more. There are also two fashion parades from acclaimed Ibiza fashion house Adlib Moda Ibiza with ideas for brides, grooms and guests.

Get on a bike

17 March 2019

Now that spring is in the air, it's the perfect time to get cycling and see Ibiza's beautiful countryside. All you need do is take your own (or rented) bike and for very little outlay, you'll be whizzing along a route that takes you from San Rafael to Ibiza Town. If you can't make this date, then there are two more events this year in April and May. Check it out here.

31 March
