Cream to meet Beethoven in a classical orchestra masterpiece

**2nd date added. Think Cream and you have trance of the '90s. Take it back 150 years and you have what Cream is preparing.

Cream has been cutting its reputation as a euphoria feeder since the early 1990s and is now considered clubbing royalty. And now, with thanks to the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, trance zealots are going to hear the classics like they´ve never heard them before.

On Saturday 16th of April 2016, in iconic Liverpool Catherdral, Cream will collaborate with musicians from the aforementioned orchestra and guests vocalists for a unforgettable performance. Think back to this summer's BBC Radio 1's Ibiza Prom that had Pete Tong leading orchestral renditions of euphoric Ibiza classics including Energy 52's Café del Mar and ATB's 9pm (til I come) and you're on the right lines. While Tong gave it, “take that, Mozart!” at the Royal Albert Hall with the Heritage Orchestra at its helm, Cream is ready to follow suit in sending dance down the classical path.

Freeze In 50

From its humble beginnings running small parties for 100 people in The Lemon Lounge, Freeze Liverpool, and the guys behind it, embarked upon one of their more unique and challenging events last night. The setting is the fifth largest cathedral in the world sporting the largest organ in the UK, and one of the largest in the world - the Liverpool Anglican Cathedral. Despite only being completed in 1978 after nearly three quarters of a century in construction, and therefore being relatively modern by cathedral standards, there is no doubting that the makers never envisaged the space being used for the events that team Freeze have strove to lay on. Previously, these hallowed walls have played host to music that follows more of a dance formula, with Danny Howells and Hernan Cattaneo headlining. This time round Gabriella Cilme was on support duties delivery a perfectly suitable acoustic set before the one and only UB40 took to the stage for nearly 2 hours of British flavoured Reggae. This short film shows the night from 6pm until close at 11:30pm in time-lapse. Roughly 1600 photos, one every 10 seconds, put together to form a 50(ish) second clip.MusicThe Cinematic Orchestra 'Arrival Of The Birds & Transformation'

Key contributors include Executive Producer Dave Green from Liverpool's Amertiz Music and conductor and arranger Tim Crooks, whose wealth of experience spans different sectors of the music industry. In hot anticipation of the April 2016 event, which will be a first for the city , Tim said:

“This is an amazing project that unites the musical forces of Liverpool in one massive feast for the ears. So many colours and sounds from synthesisers originate from acoustic instruments that there's a clear and exciting sound world that is shared between these two bodies, rich for exploration. This common musical ground is so powerful as we have all the colours and textures of an orchestra, mixed with beats, bass lines, live vocalists and one epic sound system! This will be truly incredible”.

While the award winning orchestra is the UK's oldest continuing professional symphony orchestra, the cathedral has been famously hailed as “one of the great buildings of the world” by Poet Sir John Betjeman. It goes without saying that these factors alone have it guaranteed to be a absolute masterpiece that will be unmissable for dance music fans whether you're trance inclined or not.

Scratch this legendary event into your long-term memory and be aware that it's only the first of a series of special events Cream will be hosting in their home city following the closure of their spiritual home Nation, which shuts its doors for the final time on Boxing night.

Bach and Beethoven, take note
