Which roughly translated means that French car manufacturer Renault has chosen to launch its brand new model, le Twizy, in Ibiza starting on March 12th and lasting five weeks.
It's good news for the island as around 700 motoring journalists from Europe and beyond will be invited to see how the little Twizy copes with the winding, narrow streets of the old town. The car, as you can see from the video, is an electrically powered half car, half scooter, which gives it superb manoeuvrability, and carries two people.
Renault's decision to use Ibiza follows VW's choice of the island for the launch of the new Beetle and Up! last year which brought thousands of car dealers here in the off season. Renault say “the car is a happy, optimistic little vehicle with a spirit of freedom, a profile in line with the image which Ibiza enjoys.”
And Ibiza isn't the only Spanish connection as the car is made entirely at Renault's plant in Valladolid!
