Things to do this month on Ibiza - March 2020

Marching to a cultural beat.

As we hit March, the summer feels like it's coming already with some lovely hot days. Warming up the evenings is San Antonio's “Pintxa” a must-do event to fill your bellies and raise a glass or two. There's a month full of culture for you to enjoy too and it's as diverse as you can imagine. Some of the big sport events that you can join in on start now, with more coming in April. For more of all this, keep an eye on our events' calendar and magazine.

Hit the beach

All month long

With some hot temperatures of late, March is looking good to hit the beach. Whilst we can't guarantee the weather of each day, you'll be able to bask in some warmth on many days and even take a (very) refreshing dip in the sea. What we can promise is that beaches are still fairly deserted, so you can enjoy your seaside paradise without the crowds.

music is the fiesta

Music is the theme of this year's annual fiesta in San José. A hippy flower power party, a street festival, a rock concert and a wealth of live music of varying styles fill the month-and-a-half long programme that celebrates the village's patron saint. There'll be singing, there'll be dancing and the joy of spring will pervade the air.

Even if you only go a couple of times, yu¡ou'll get some pointers to raise your game. Be a real hustler, sign up and surprise everyone later.

Sunday food

1 March

Home-made food in a new and updated Food Factory event at Sluiz in Santa Gertrudis marks the first day of the month. A new outside kitchen will dispense the goodies on offer that includes a diverse array of international cuisines, plus there's live music as a backdrop. Starts before noon, finishing early evening.

Thursday nights out

Every Thursday from 5 March

It's that time of year, when Pintxa San Antonio hits the resort's restaurants with mini tapas, or pinchos and a drink for a nice price. As well as savoury and sweet ones; there are plant-based-diet versions too. Do it as the locals do by bar hopping and eat, repeat and repeat - the atmosphere is totally electric. More details as we get them. If in Ibiza Town, Mikasa Boutique Hotel is doing its own pincho night from the same date. Get stunning views of the old town from its terrace as you enjoy your food.

Note: this event has been postponed until further notice due to the Spanish state of emergency which provisionally runs until 29 March 2020.

Jazz it up

6-8 March

Ibiza Town is set to host another great music event, Jazz Point, taking place over various locations, with the inaugural night at HEART Ibiza. Three music-filled days sees a bevy of international artists bringing boogies, back-beats and bepops to the island capital - an absolute must for lovers of jazz. Tickets are well-priced and the closing concert is free. Sign yourselves up.

I will survive

7 March

Survival Zombie is an event where you leave the console at home and really get involved in the action. In a post-apocalyptic simulation, test your wits and your ability to escape being caught by an oncoming swarm of zombies coming at you just outside San Antonio. It'll take all your brain power, ingenuity and innate life skills to win: the only rule is to survive.

It's electronic

8 March

Electronic music aficionados should make their way to the monthly Hola Sundays! event at the deliciously art-deco OD Ocean Drive hotel for a crucible of culture. It's a great way for professionals and fans to meet, with a vinyl record market to browse, free masterclasses to take part in, plus streamings, showcases and interviews. It's a great way to immerse yourself, learn and network.

Racy days

15 March

Join in on the annual crazy race, Passeig a Passeig, which takes you from Ibiza Town's port to Santa Eulalia's centre. Go the full 15km on foot, bicycle or inline skates and get those leg muscles working. Two mini trails of 1500 or 300 metres are available for the more junior participant, so the whole family could partake. Registration closes on Friday 13 March at 10:00 European time, so hurry.

Note: this event has been cancelled

Culture club

29 March

Formentera ends the month of March with its 18th Intercultural Festival in Es Pujols, a melting pot for the cultures of numerous countries around the world as well as many regions of Spain. Try authentic food from all over the globe as you experience the music and traditional dance of places like Cuba, Morocco, Indonesia and Ecuador down to Spain's regions of Andalusia or Catalonia.
