Man of the moment, Denis Sulta is headlining a charity fundraiser and awareness-raising Choose Love at Pikes on Tuesday 4 September. Mella Dee will be joining the loveable Glaswegian selector, famed for dropping old school classic anthems mid-set.
The event, in association with Help Refugees, aims to raise much-needed funds in the bid to ease the current refugee crisis across Europe and North Africa. The event is a multi-pronged effort from a community of artists, including not only DJs, but chefs and photographers too.
Syrian chef Imad Alarnab - a former refugee himself - is the guest chef for the evening. He will present a three-coast feast and sharing platters of traditional Syrian cuisine, providing the true taste of his homeland.
Dishes include a meze of flatbreads, hummus and falafel to start, moving on to lamb burger and marinated chicken for the main course. Desserts and cocktails from the region will also be on offer.
Taking place in the lovely outdoor area of Pikes' finca will be an alfresco art exhibition. The exhibit will feature prints and original artworks relating to the refugee crisis.
After 22:00, the action moves to Freddies, where Sulta will be making his Pikes debut. No doubt he'll be blending both old and new material, with more than a dose of nostalgia thrown into the mix.
Help Refugees CEO Josie Naughton had the following to say: “We're incredibly excited to partner with iconic hotel and club Pikes to bring both our message of love to the party island. Together with an incredible range of artists and DJs, we're creating a party with a purpose.”
Guestlist can be requested from the Pikes website - with a recommended donation of €10 payable on the door. Please contact the venue directly for dinner reservations. Let's be the change we want to see at Choose Love.
