Things to do this month on Ibiza - November 2017

Our choice picks for the winter month of November.

Ibiza in November - a sea of tranquillity? Not entirely. Fewer people means more breathing space, it doesn't mean you aren't spoiled for choice with things to do. A seasonal food festival, all kinds of live music, even a closing party on the beach. Is that the same as back home? We think not and all the more reason to come and enjoy Ibiza this penultimate month of the year.

Is this the last closing party?

Whilst Halloween just passed is the kind of unofficial end to the summer season, there's still Atzaro's chiringuito closing at Cala Nova to come. It's free there's no guest list to blag yourself onto and you get a sublime seafront location. Expect top island DJs like Iban Mendoza and the Mischiefmakers in a party that takes you to midnight. There's live music with La Locanda from 14:00, drinks, cocktails and a pizza station. A lovely end to winter.

Get down with the folk

The Cas Serres Auditorium is home to a three-day Folk Festival from 3-5 November. Two of the groups, Os d'Abiaxo on the Friday and Xose Lois Romero on the Saturday, bring you their own interpretations of traditional Galician folk music with their own newer pieces. On the Sunday it's the turn of the Sondeseu Folk Orchestra whose concerts celebrate a sung oral storytelling heritage.

A bit of a local fiesta

Fiestas on Ibiza are a big thing with events that usually run over an entire month. Winter is the best time to immerse yourself in this most local of celebrations. Each town and village has a ‘big day' where you can see folk dancing and usually a live concert. San Carlos has an ‘80s and ‘90s concert on the 4th and Santa Gertrudis will be doing something similar on the 16th. Check our events calendar for the days that you are here to see what's what.

Seasonal food without the kilometres

The delectable Ibiza Sabor is back for autumn 2017 showcasing ‘zero kilometre' seasonal Ibizan ingredients like locally caught fish, olive oil and almonds as well as the spicy local cured sausage, sobrasada. Try local dishes made in traditional and modern styles in specially-priced three course menus or opt for a tantalising tapas dish, each with a glass of local vino. Runs until 10 December 2017.

Open all hours at the beach

As it's not a blazing 30 degrees then you might think the beach is a no no. it's a yes yes people! Who wouldn't want to exercise on an Ibizan beach in the open air? Work up a sweat for extra heat in the annual ‘The Beach is Open All Year' events on the beaches of Talamanca and Figueretas. Get down with a bit of beach football or volleyball; take to the seas in a kayak or try your hand at rugby tag. The link to download the full programme can be found in our events calendar.
