Las Dalias kicks off the first day of May with its Opening Party, a cultural event where you can enjoy art, music, cuisine and so much more. A day filled with music is promised with free activities and concerts and two special evening concerts with leading international acts Macaco and Bebe.
The evening session last year attracted the likes of Manu Chao and Imagination, electrifying this iconic island market and rocking the village of San Carlos. This year from 7.30pm, Grammy Latino award-winning artist Bebe will be covering old favourites of hers like “Malo” and “Ella” as well as tracks from her new album Cambio de Piel.
Then at 9.30pm, Macaco, one of the greats of the Latin music scene, who has recorded eight studio albums and sold millions worldwide, will follow to see the night out to midnight. The night doesn't end there as DJs Spin Rod, David Oleart and Eve Pacific take to the decks to finish off the night. Tickets for these concerts cost €20 and can be purchased online.
The big daytime attraction is the long-established hippy market and its fine hand-crafted gifts, clothes, jewellery and locally made soaps. But, there's more of course - the Opening Party will have food trucks serving up top bites from around the world and there's a play area for the little ones – everyone is catered for.
The free concerts are a must with all kinds of world music styles with the flamenquito of Nene Cassá, the Afro-reggae of Shakatribe and funk from Ras Smaila to name a few. All daytime activities run from 12.30-6.30pm and are completely free to attend.
For a sublime and rocking day in May, get yourself to Las Dalias!
