A showcase of international modern art is coming to the island this September promoting quality and cultural diversity. Art Ibiza'15 takes place between 3-6 September in the Ferias y Congresos de Ibiza y Formentera (Fecoef) exhibition centre next to Ibiza Town. 50 galleries in total from all over the world will come together for the fair, providing a unique opportunity for artists, gallery owners, collectors and curators to share ideas and experiences.
With the aim of promoting emerging artists and galleries, the event will present works from a variety of different art arenas. As well as painting and sculpture, the areas of art design, architecture, photography and publishing will be covered. There will also be a section devoted to young artists and local artists.
Ibiza will be represented by various galleries, including Artic Blue which will be showing works by artists including Anna Guseva, Zeina Nader Selwan and Carmen Quinteros. Local Art Club Ibiza, a not-for-profit group will be there also to promote the many and diverse artists that are based here on the island. The solo show for independents will feature many international artists from places liked Brazil, Argentina and France.
The Art-Design area features designers, such as Empiris, and Cosmic Cactis who create furniture using high quality materials and other unexpected elements, such as glowing light to alter the user's experience of functional objects.
It is hoped that the location of Ibiza will attract a lot of interest: the island brings together a lot of disparate groups such as filmmakers, artists, poets and rich investors. The backdrop of natural beauty and cultural diversity of the island is also intended as a draw to this art convention.
The event is open to the general public with tickets priced at €10 for anyone wanting to immerse themselves in a world-class art event. Because of limited car parking spaces at the Fecoef centre and the large number of people expected, it is advised that people use taxis to get to the exhibition.
For anyone wishing to apply, the Art Ibiza'15 website has an application form which needs to be completed then submitted to the fair's Curator Committee by 25 July.
