Ibiza now has the most modern road tunnel in all Spain! Opened only last week the new tunnel passes under the village of San Rafael and carries traffic effortlessly between Ibiza and San Antonio.
A crowd of high ranking government officials were on hand to applaud the first cars to pass through the 630 metre construction and a massive sign above declared the tunnel open.
Local motorists who have had to endure marathon 5 or 10 minute delays in their journeys in order to pass through the centre of San Rafael will now be able to have a few minutes extra sleep each day.
Nobody will now need to wake up until they reach the second roundabout near Ibiza town where a steering readjustment should be made to avoid ploughing up the gardens in the central reservation!
