Yesterday the Pooldisco gang took to the stage at Ushuaïa Ibiza Beach Hotel's poolside to mark the start of their first season on the White Isle as the venues Saturday residents. With a line-up featuring Dani Casarano, Severino, Neverdogs, Raul Rodriguez, Noah Becker & Monroe and a live PA from Soul II Soul's Wunmi things were bound to be exciting.
The vibrant party which stems from London's Shoreditch House will be hosting weekly events at Ibiza's most glamorous day to night time venue, bringing a bit of old school glitz and glam to the poolside from late afternoon. Embracing both the soul and vibrancy of disco, Ushuaïa was alight with a pink glow and dazzled with the finest disco ball glitter from start to finish; a miniature pink wedding chapel was even sat on the edge of the pool teasing drink fuelled romances from the crowd. Aside from providing upbeat house and nostalgic disco remixes, Pooldisco came armed with an entourage of dancers, performers and singers who strutted their stuff in sequined, featured and outrageously embellished dresses. Hyping up the crowd and getting the party started was a rather girly dressed Roy Brown from ROY INC who belted out the occasional vocal to accompany the DJ's soundtrack.
Bringing the party over to a nighttime vibe the bouncy house sounds traveled through a soulful realm with a bit of soul funk from Roy Davis' track 'Watch them come' feat. Peven Everett. Severino was the man taking us back to the disco era as the sun set and the nighttime party got into full swing, dropping Eli Escobar's latest release 'Work it' - which as a fusion of hip and funk house really got the crowd bouncing, the friendly uplifting atmosphere of the Pooldisco party was quite infectious. Throughout the party the music was continuously pumping and melodic whilst dabbling in anything from classic disco tracks to calming tribal sounds but what remained constant throughout was the really relaxed fun and upbeat feel to the party.
As four flames were ignited from the pit of the stage and fierce ice cannons were powered through the crowd a troupe of dancers paraded around the stage in sexy black outfits covered with large feathers and glammed up to suit the parties theme. They were each introduced as Viktoria Modesta, Tamer Wild, Johanna Londinium and Tristan Temple and joined by 'go-go girls' who partied on the stage alongside a pretty happy Severino who was still smashing out classic 90's tracks such as 'Deep inside' by Hardhouse. Soul II Soul's Wunmi then took to the stage equally as spruced up to sing to the energetic party-goers although her vocals were a little swallowed up by the disco mania that had landed at Ushuaïa yesterday evening.
As the evening progressed and finally came to a close the party from the stage to the dance-floor was hugely excitable and embraced a kind of planned manic hysteria. Roy Brown stormed across the stage armed with a truncheon which doubled up as an ice-cannon as 'Where love lives' by Alison Limerick' blasted through the speakers. So after partying to some foot tapping, arm raising classics whilst being being trapped in a Vegas like world of confetti and party poppers, Pooldisco is definitely an exciting addition to the island this summer. With residents Severino, Sam Divine and DJ ONNO remaining firm staples from week to week we can expect a seamless and most importantly fun par-tay every Saturday!
