Mark Ronson and De La Soul to play Ibiza Rocks

Get ready to groove.

The Ibiza Rocks team has done itself proud with this latest announcement, revealing that eclectic and funky production mastermind Mark Ronson will return for another show on the 9th of September plus, in a huge coup for hip hop fans, De La Soul will be swinging in to fulfill the annual hip hop quota for the Ibiza Rocks season on Wednesday the 12th of August.

De La Soul's contribution to hip hop now spans decades, the legendary trio known for their soulful, laid back beats, quirky rhymes and innovative blend of sampling and jazz influences. Incredibly musical stuff, with charismatic performances to boot. It was always going to be hard to follow last year's hip hop act, with Ibiza Rocks bringing Nas in for an Illmatic reprise, but if anyone can maintain the standard, it's De La Soul.

Over 25 years since its release, their debut album '3 Feet High And Rising' is still considered one of the best hip hop albums of all time and with a new De La Soul album on the way very soon, the tunes will just keep on coming. BBC's DJ Yoda will support, playing a 40 years of hip hop audio and visual set, plus UK rapper and Ibiza favourite Harley Maxwell, whose relaxed and casual style suits De La Soul to a tee.

Mark Ronson continues his close and personal relationship with the Rocks stage, returning with live artists and the east London based Shorebitch party crew. Ronson will incorporate just about any musical influence that crosses his well travelled path, but his use of rock instruments to create hip hop and funk sounds is surely his trademark.

“I've been playing Ibiza Rocks since 2006, that crew is like family to me. It's been the site of some of my favourite gigs ever--either with the band or DJing with my brother, Zane Lowe. I can't wait to be playing back there this summer.”
- Mark Ronson

The Ibiza Rocks 10th Anniversary season is shaping up to be an absolute belter then. Roll on the opening, June 17th.
