Savannah continues its Pre-Party season

A look at the sunset destination's weekly evening schedule.

The so-named sunset strip of San Antonio is doggedly vying to become the only permissible pre party destination of the islands Western half. Ibiza's Savannah bar, part of the close-quartered trio – completed by nearby Café Mambo and Café del Mar - has been committed to presenting an uptempo summer long schedule: not just with a selection of official club night pre parties but with a weekly broadcast from Ibiza Global Radio and Sunday residency to boot.

Savannah could be termed the highbrow sibling of its neighbours. Being part of the Mambo group, an excellent quality of product and service is expected and delivered in a plush, substantial environment. Aside from its light-kissed terrace with its outside bar the venue boasts both an outer seating area and an intimate back room. Said back room, situated behind the DJ booth enjoys a decently endowed sound rig and was gently pulsing to timbres housey and ripe for their latest Ibiza Radio outing. For his hour-shy guest slot artist, Darius Syrossian presented his sound with no frills candour – plodding through his mix of modern and classic house. Drawing influences from Americas bygone Mid-West the Iranian born Brit pushed the fuzzy ghosts of Detroit energised with the addition of his inescapable signature sound – all poker flat bass and wide open hats. The horizon wide thunder and lightening made for a slick addition to the sensory experience which was already enhanced by Savannahs effortless swat of their competitors: a projection system that prints a multi-angled video feed of the booth onto the bar's stone walls. Dusk settled and the mantel was passed to lively duo Sunnery James and Ryan Marciano. Enthusiastic body movements accompanied selections that ran wildly from African inspired catcalls to popular tech house cuts of the moment, the level of eclecticism tied to the increasing hour of the day.

What Savannah loses in its decking-side standing space it makes up for with a roomy dance arena inside – giving their pre-parties a potentially longer on the day shelf-life. A refined selection of both liquid and edible accompaniments is available throughout the day to enhance your two-tapping experience. The bar hosts Eden's Toolroom Knights with Mark Knight on a Monday, Ibiza Global Radio party with Sunnery James and Ryan Marciano on a Wednesday, Eden's Ministry of Sound pre-party with Pete Gooding on a Thursday, Es Paradis' Hed Kandi pre-party on a Saturday and Beach Disco on a Sunday. Parties usually start from 8pm.
