After new ownership, a top-to-bottom refit and some fantastic marketing (don't worry, no snakes were harmed in the making of the impressive billboards) it's now all final: the infamous San Antonio club Eden has announced it will officially re-open in July! After a soft –opening with Judge Jules' new residency ‘Judgement Fridays' on the Friday the 5th July, the Official Opening Party will now be on Sunday 7th with Ferry Corsten.
Although the original plan was to be open by the end of June, due to some unexpected building works it has been postponed for another week, with new Dutch owner and entrepreneur Michael van de Kuit commenting, "we do not want to compromise in quality. We want to present you the new Eden with the official opening at its very best!"
After all, with so much hype and excitement over the re-launch, being in new very capable hands and with support from ex-Pacha mogul Danny Whittle, there is no point in opening unless it's truly ready to wow every visitor- and I think looking at a seven-day-spectacular of weekly line ups and residencies, it's definitely going to be worth the extra few days wait!
Sundays are by no means a day of rest in this Garden of Eden, as Ferry Corsten brings you only the best in electronic dance music with his residency, FULL ON. Although the soft-opening is on the Friday, the Official Opening falls on Sunday 7th, meaning Ferry's residency will be well, truly and officially welcoming us all back through Eden's doors (then most likely blowing them back off their hinges thanks to the new VOID Soundsystem they've had installed). Having this fantastic Dutch producer playing the opening is a great nod to what has been achieved with fresh eyes, lots of planning and new Dutch ownership. You can expect to see Ferry playing with trance DJ Markus Schulz, fellow Dutchman Sied van Riel and Irish musician and DJ John O'callaghan at the opening. Other heavyweights over the summer include Like Mike and Cosmic Gate.
Mondays see Mark Knight taking over this new-and-improved paradise with his Toolroom Knights residency.
Tuesdays, DJ and producer Sander Kleinenberg presents Superstars, with artists Russ Chimes, Bodhi and Aeroplane on the bill.
Wednesdays, Eden welcomes you to Our House. You'll be able to catch David Morales as he's playing throughout July.
Thursday needs no introduction with the mega Ministry Of Sound.
Friday, Judgement Fridays with Judge Jules is on the agenda. After his previous ‘Judgement Sundays' residency was a huge hit, there's no doubt this will also be a cracking night. Now on a Friday, it is almost a nod to the days of his huge Radio 1 Friday night show, gearing everyone up with great music for the weekend ahead. Judge Jules will be joined next Friday the 5th by Danny Howard, Estiva and Mallorca Lee, a great line-up to kick off the weekend and the unofficial opening of Eden.
Saturday sees the mysterious Uncaged, and nobody knows what Eden is planning on unleashing on the crowd for this one.
So we only have to wait until next Friday for the new-and-improved Eden Ibiza to open its doors, and then return on Sunday to see the Official Opening. With arguably some of the best international line-ups, a promise of fantastic visuals and an incredible new sound system, The Garden of Eden has definitely changed. And it's going to be worth seeing!
