Thank you!
This is the last "Know this; know Ibiza" column for 2012 and a huge thank you is due for all our Facebook Fans, our Forum audience and those of you who have used the website. This column has been a fabulous way to round-up the best of the island each week but hold firm, Ibiza Spotlights website is built, maintained and updated to ensure your time on this fabulous island is stress-free and fun, be it Summer or Winter.
With this in mind, before I list some of the mischief and deals of this week, you might want to bookmark a couple of the following pages - they'll keep you up to speed throughout the winter.
Ibiza What's On / Events Calendar - this is a huge resource of all those things you see other people doing and think "Why didn't I know about that?" - now you can do.
Ibiza Clubbing Calendar - we're still weeks away from the Closing Events and the Club Team will make sure you don't miss a trick - you can even search by DJ! A couple of clicks and you can buy your tickets and be in the middle of the fun.
Hotel Special Offers - this one is such a gem. Someone asked me the other day why they should book with us? Immediate online confirmation, direct prices from the hotels, NO credit card charges, NO service charges, NO hidden extras, NO charges for changes and a great team right here on the island for 'Hands on' helpful service! It makes a mockery of some of the other services out there, believe you me!
Oh you'd rather a Villa - no problem! We've got a list of Villa Special Offers available too! I confess I was surfing around looking at some of the other websites that promote illegal villas on the island the other day and checked the prices, thinking they would be cheaper, surely? I nearly fell off my chair. In so many cases the price hike was utterly shocking, with ridiculous sums of money being asked for. Stay safe and don't get ripped off - if anything goes wrong and you're staying at an illegal villa, you haven't got a leg to stand on.
Our News page is a great source for the serious and ridiculous - keep an eye on it as we bring you the latest news right the way through the year.
Special: Fashion Column
So, it seems some folks are revving up to party even more, now the heat of August starts to ease just a little and Leena Bhatti, our Fashion Expert, proves you don't need to shop before you arrive. Love it! Steamy Ibiza
Special: Mindfulness for the Soul
On the other hand, some folks seem ready to collapse and starting this month, Cindy Ritmeester offers a gentle exercise to help you stay on track and make the transition from frenetic to relaxed. Check out her new column here - Mindfulness for the Soul
Things to Do
LOTS of celebrations are taking place on the island in September and I took off to explore some of the services that are available for keeping groups of friends occupied -
I experienced my first facial this week and spent most of the time compiling a list of friends who really must experience this! Rejuvenate, Cala Llonga
Soon afterwards I explored the more spiritual side of the island - and almost despite myself was impressed by a celebrated Tarot Master. Check out Faery Forest Magic
Restaurant of the Week.
Of course, there has to be time to eat, so I went to Tapas in San Antonio and had a great night. Checking Facebook and the Ibiza Spotlight Forums, seems a few other folk agree with the positive review.
Looking ahead
The last Full Moon Celebration at Atzaro Beach Club was pretty fabulous and the event sold out days in advance. The next event is this Saturday, 01 Sept. Make your reservation and come along for a night of celebration and indulgence, including a 3 course meal as part of the package.
The evening before Jade Jagger's 1971 night is also being held at the same venue (and a great place as you party on, to step aside and check out her jewellery, which will also be on show)
Looking ahead to October, after all the club Closing Parties have taken place, two big events are worth being aware of.
Firstly there is Healing Ibiza Day - this has been a twice a year event and a year-on-year success. The next one is 07th October.
I went to the last Healing Ibiza Day in May and it massively surpassed expectations - look out for our "Guide to Healing Day" coming soon. If you've an ounce of curiosity about Alternative Therapies, Spiritualism, Law of Attraction in Action, or just need a really good massage, this is a gorgeous day out - and the children are beautifully catered for too!
Days later, 09th October, sees the start of the first Ibiza Cooperative (NGO) 5 day festival. Focused on bringing together people interested in sustaining and regenerating everything from local food supply, better energy management, to looking after natural resources, it promises to be quite a gathering. If you'd like to know more join the Ibiza COOP group, see what's planned and get involved.
Villa of the Week.
Country Villa San Jordi (Ref. 015), a really cute, cosy Villa for up to 5 people caught KT, our Villa Experts eye this week. Not all of us want to go on holiday with twenty mates but often we still want the luxury of a Villa holiday. Just outside Ibiza Town but surrounded by peaceful countryside, there's some special price offers on for September and October - Country Villa San Jordi (Ref. 015)
Hotel of the Week
Most of the team behind Ibiza Spotlight live on the island year round and we know how beautiful Ibiza is, all year. Quietly, island visitors are starting to figure out that it's a great holiday destination too and Lux Isla Hotel caters to those switched-on folk beautifully.
As Les, our Hotel Expert, points out -
Here's one of our favourites which is open year round, Lux Isla Hotel, with recently renovated rooms and only a stone's throw from the Talamanca Beach. The service is very friendly and the rates extremely reasonable, plus they can offer you a fantastic car-hire service and all only a few minutes from the attractions of Ibiza Town and the Botafoch Marina.
Club News
Wowzers. It felt like yesterday, when we prepared ourselves for the International Music Summit at the end of May, which marked the start of the season. And bang - we're at the end of high season already! Time has been flying! But looking back, the past three months have been full of fantastic music - be it legendary DJ sets (Carl Cox' 50th birthday for example), great live concerts such as Lenny Kravitz' at the Ibiza 123 Festival or at some naughty afterparties...no pictures here ;-)
We're now at the end of August and again, there are still a lot of highlights to come! We've just had Public Enemy live in concert at Amnesia on Tuesday (see the review section for reports!) and tonight, Sven Väth will play at Space again after not having graced its decks for a decade! Will be pretty special.
Instead of some weekly recommendations, here are a few clubbing highlights for those who plan to come to Ibiza in September...
Carl Cox at Space on 4th September with the legendary Laurent Garnier on the terraza!
Ibiza Rocks on 12th September with New Order!
We Love... at Space, 16th September - and of course also their closing party on 30th September! The innervision gang takes over the Terraza on 16th September and for the closing party, the discoteca will be vibrating with performances by Modeselector, Shackleton and Mambotour!
20th September will be a difficult one - two big closing parties: Cream against ENTER. It's the biggest party of the decade against the most successful new party on the island - both will be great I'm sure.
Pure Pacha on 21st and 28th September - great guest DJs alongside Pete Tong
Then, of course, the very last clubbing weekend of the season at the start of October with a real clubbing marathon...Privilege closing on Friday 5th October, Ushuaïa closing on Saturday 6th, Amnesia closing on the same night, but going well into Sunday afternoon, Space closing on Sunday 7th, DC-10 closing on Monday 8th and Sankeys closing on Tuesday 9th October.
See you on the dancefloors, either this season still or then next summer!
Stivi"
For and on behalf of the team at Ibiza Spotlight, wishing you and yours a great weekend and many, many more fantastic holidays!
Thank you,
Cat Milton.
