Indian Summer in Ibiza

Temperatures up, sales down. That's the summary of Ibiza's Indian summer so far.

Temperatures up, sales down. That's the summary of Ibiza's Indian summer so far. With average temperatures standing at 17 degrees and wall to wall sunshine, the thermometer has been reaching the mid 20's on sunny afternoons.

Whilst the t-shirt weather has been just great for the man in the street, the high street shops have been suffering. Nobody wants to buy sweaters, overcoats, Arctic explorer issue pyjamas, electric blankets or radiators, in fact anything needed normally at this time of year to keep warm.

Shopkeepers are reporting sales at 50% of their usual levels and shelves full of unsold stock. Worst hit are men's clothes and shops selling to the lower end of the market to people with less acquisitive power.

Our photo (more photos on our blog) shows Ibiza town's Christmas tree in the Vara de Rey being decorated with the thermometer reading 19 degrees Centigrade. Doesn't that sound inviting? So why not come for a winter break?
