The rumours have now been confirmed. Two years after the final closing of Space Ibiza, the legendary super-club has officially announced that four of its - and indeed Ibiza's - key players will start the next chapter of the club that repeatedly won the title of "best club in the world."
The partnership consists of the owner and founder of Space Pepe Roselló, the king of techno Carl Cox, leading Ibiza promoter Dave Browning and the club's general manager of the final eight years Juan Arenas. Together they plan to take the original concept of Space into a new home.
In their own words, “Space is a way of living the music, which is part of our shared experiences in the most vibrant moments of our life. The roots of Ibiza extend to new destinations with the joy, passion and enthusiasm for this adventure, to return to our house, the island.”
Recently once again crowned the number one DJ in the world, Carl Cox has always been very open and vocal about his love for and devotion to Space, not only because of his 15-year residency that ended when the super-club closed its doors.
Coxy himself put it like this, "Space Ibiza has always been my home for the last 20 years. To pave the new way for the future of Space is really exciting, and now forming a partnership with Pepe, Juan, and Dave Browning, to run the newly formed team, it feels solid in the way that we are a family team, and I feel we can bring everything back to where it belongs.”
While the team cannot confirm nor deny rumours of a new venue on the island, we can expect exciting news already at the end of this year. For now, suffice it to say that they want to ensure that current generations get to experience the spirit of the much-beloved Space terrace.
We are all very much looking forward to seeing what's in store.
