Paradise opening party creates magic at DC10

The 2017 Paradise opening party was nothing short of unforgettable.

Set in the faraway land of DC10, the very special Paradise is said to be one of the island's most sought after parties. This past Wednesday we experienced exactly why. An opening party spilling over from dusk till dawn, the island favourite welcomed in the sixth year on Ibiza.

The blend of this electric jungle house event, set in the almost mysterious venue DC10, created unforgettable moments for both DJ and audience. This opening party saw artists play three introductory sets to the night from a woodland tree-house booth in the garden. The dancefloor deck was full to the max, and the trees projected with multicoloured lights rising within the crowd.

Seeing in the sunset Jamie Jones went b2b with The Martinez Brothers, bringing us throwbacks from the 90s, with tracks such as the 1991 Burning by MK to a bit further into the decade with the 1996 You Make Me Say Do Be Do by Paul Johnson.

The garden had a high voltage buzz dancing around it, as only good feelings were passed through the speakers. The audience bopped along with Jamie's deck dancing, as tracks such as Life Is Changing by Cricco Castelli we descended into the night.

As the evening sunk its claws in we gravitated into the terrace to catch the change over from Russ Yallop onto Patrick Topping. But not before catching Russ drop Shape Out by Supernova. The DJ booth in the far left hand corner had a red neon sign above it reading Paradise.

The dancefloor was already a sea of dancers lost in the music, as ice blue lasers shone over them. LED screens hung along the walls displaying white noise type graphics. Crossing over from the terrace into the mainroom, you pass through Ibiza's version of an Amazonian jungle. The smoking area became a mini maze built up of green foliage and flowers.

Catching the end of Infinity Ink's live set, the mainroom had an amazing feeling building within it. This continued on going into the early hours with the same vibe for wAFF. The Infinity Ink track Full Capacity had completely captivated the audience and was definitely setting up the tone of the room for the rest of the evening. With the energy being generated within the main room, combined with exposed brick cave-like setting and rainbow spectrum lasers, this was the best set yet by wAFF this season. The whole set had such an easy flow throughout, with strong tribal sounds and eccentric dancers to match.

Back into the terrace for the set of the night, Jamie Jones b2b The Martinez Brothers. This set took us deep into the depths of jungle house, through a journey of funky, jazz tunes. From the trumpet melody of Babarabatiri by Todd Terry to super smooth Who's Hoo by 95 North. This set was everything you want out of an Ibiza party, keeping the life and soul to the island.

As the sunrise peeped its head through the glass windows surrounding us, we fought off reality with some throwback remixed classics. The crowd went mad for a 6:00 drop of Wildchild's Renegade Master, before making our minds melt with an incredible remix of the Talking Heads' Psycho Killer.

This party was definitely an extraordinary experience for all involved. A reminder of what an Ibiza party is all about: good music, good people and all around good vibes. Make your way down to this event whenever you get the chance. It certainly will not disappoint.

Running now every Wednesday till the 27 September, Paradise holds some of the best line-ups on the island this year, including Joseph Capriati, Steve Lawler, Richy Ahmed, Darius Syrossian and a more.
