The Radio One Amnesia party – the highlight of the Radio One weekend in Ibiza – was always going to be one of the most talked about nights this summer ... and it was definitely not one for the faint hearted !
It was a substantial dj line-up that included John Digweed, Pete Tong, Eddie Halliwell and Judge Jules in the main room, plus a live Kissy Sell Out set, Justice (dj set), Annie Mac and Zane Lowe in the terrace.
With such an impressive line-up, plus the magic of the Radio One live broadcast, it was always going to be busy of course – and tonight it really was ! It was an initial struggle to get in and around the club before finding yourself a spot on the dancefloor.
But once you made yourself some room to dance, it was time to enjoy the music ... and the awesome party vibe that was in Amnesia, none less so when Zane Lowe was rocking the terrace with a typical eclectic set of party anthems.
Tonight could be closely compared to a typical Cream night in Ibiza, with the harder dance music to be found in the main room, which is always more intense. Meanwhile, the terrace is more of house music affair ... and all about having a fun party !
Naturally the VIP balcony upstairs was a good option tonight, where you could enjoy the energy of both rooms without the hassle of moving through the crowd.
Both rooms were full and buzzing tonight as expected, and on a night with so many dj´s one of the biggest problems was deciding who to see. Digweed played a darker set in the main room and one of the highlights of the night was seeing Eddie Halliwell take to the decks to the cheers of the crowd. Eddie is fast becoming an Ibiza legend and can always be counted on to put on a great show.
Over in the terrace, there was little to choose from between Zane Lowe, Justice and Annie Mac, who all succeeded in creating such a great atmosphere, but for us it was Kissy Sell Out´s live set that we thought stole the show.
With such energy behind the decks and a mix of tunes that often drew cheers from the crowd, he pretty much nailed it tonight.
So a busy, yet pretty amazing night for everyone involved ... we look forward to something similar for 2009 please ...
