Tales of Ibiza's Two Princes

There can't be many other tiny islands like Ibiza that can boast the presence of the heirs to the thrones

There can't be many other tiny islands like Ibiza that can boast the presence of the heirs to the thrones of two nations both visiting on the same weekend.

Prince Felipe, the next in line to be king of Spain was here with his wife Letizia and daughter Leonor to attend the wedding of a college friend from his Georgetown University days. San Rafael church echoed to the sounds of Puccini, Van Morrison and Will Young during the ceremony, which was conducted in English, and later everyone went for a slap up meal in a restaurant ‘near the road to Santa Eulalia.’

Our second visiting Prince is Guillermo de Inglaterra, better known to us as Prince William, here with his girlfriend Kate Middleton and seen enjoying our warm seas and blue skies by no less a publication than The Sun.

William will one day inherit the throne of one of the most crime-riddled nations in the western world. The poor lad will have to live in London, a town with a higher crime rate than New York City, and where there are over 4000 gun-related incidents every year.

Last New Year’s Eve the city’s overworked, underfunded hospital emergency departments were inundated with no less than 35 stabbing victims! Add to this the bloody awful climate and it becomes apparent why the heir apparent has chosen to get away from it all in Ibiza. Wouldn’t you too?
