It's that time of year again when the members of Civil Protection aided and abetted by various diving clubs set to work cleaning the bottom of San Antonio Bay. This year they fished up 4 tons of rubbish form Davy Jones' locker and so much junk was there that they had to call in a crane to lift it all and used no less than 7 boats and a wagon.
The interesting bit is the type of things they recovered, which included paella dishes, frying pans, bottles, plastic glasses, mobile phones, bikes and radio cassettes. One theory is that this stuff 'falls' overboard from boats and pleasure cruisers using the bay and another, though less likely theory, is that a massive underwater paella party had taken place and people forgot to clear up after it.
