We often bring you news of what's happening in our local markets like Las Dalias or the Es Cana Hippie market but perhaps to use the word local would be a misnomer. Many of the products on sale there have a tenuous connection with Ibiza, as much of the stuff comes from Argentina or the Far East. However there is one market on the island where every item on sale has been produced on the island even though the artisans making the goods are from all Four Corners of the globe.
Every Sunday from 11.00 to 17.00 the Atzaro rural hotel near San Lorenzo holds a craft and produce market in its beautiful grounds. Stalls are laid out in the wonderful gardens or in Arabic style marquees where visitors can browse amongst pottery, jewellery, furniture, paintings, rugs, materials, natural products such as Aloe Vera, and organically grown fruit and vegetables.
There's a lovely relaxed atmosphere in the tranquil setting, which doesn't have the crowds of the summer markets, and the hotel restaurant is open for a special Sunday lunch for anybody who gets a bit peckish whilst shopping. The market will be held weekly until the end of April when it will take a break for the summer.
