The public of Ibiza are up in arms at having to spend more of their precious dough on their daily bread. Almost overnight the price of a 'barra' (a bit like a baguette) has 'risen' from 55 to 75 cents!
In defence of the increase the Bakers Association of Ibiza blames the high cost of flour which is now 50% more expensive than a few months ago. They also say that the cost of bread has been the same in Ibiza for years now, AND it is still cheaper than neighbouring Mallorca and Menorca.
