We keep on hearing that the weather in Northen Europe is apparently really bad (snow...really?) and we really feel for you guys... Just so you know, the forecast for the Easter period on the island predicts temperatures of around 20°C daytime and pretty boring sunshine all the time...
Semana Santa - Easter Week - means opening up for business again for a huge amount of touristic places in Ibiza. Lots of hotels, bars and beach clubs get into gear after a few quiet winter months. So we thought we'd give you a rundown of the best and most important parties and opening celebrations to attend if you're on the island over the next few days. There's still time to book your flight, you know...and hotel offers are available here of course.
Wednesday 27th March
It's full moon and Jockey Club in Las Salinas opens up for another summer. It's actually their 20th anniversary this year, so what about a cosy lunch by the sea to kick off your Easter weekend?
Night time fun will be provided by Pacha. The iconic club released their weekly programme for this summer a few days ago and Pacha presents a varied programme for the Easter period as well. On Wednesday night, Riva Starr is back in the house with his own label Snatch and the Pacha ressies Angel Linde, Sergio Mussa and David Oleart. But things actually already start earlier. It's all about girl power with Lolita's (Cris 44, Paulette and Eli Rojas) in the Pacha restaurant, from 9pm onwards. Grial next door also opens up again after a while being closed, so perfect for a drink beforehand!
Thursday 28th March
On Thursday, we suggest you head over to San Antonio for sunset as world famous Café del Mar is back in the game. After that, a busy night in Ibiza town and Playa d'en Bossa awaits you. Our friends from LAP13 host their weekly BASIC night in our favourite winter bar NINE, so make sure you head there for one of their mean Gin Tonics at least! The fact balearic legend Alfredo is playing won't make it easier to leave early...
Then it's off to Pacha for Vintage with main man Sebastian Gamboa plus support from Anna Tur, Mariano Grande, B-Linda (yes, the violin girl) Marc Tur and Sergio Mussa. If you don't feel like cherries that night, then take a taxi to Sirocco in Playa d'en Bossa. It's no secret that Sirocco was simply the place to be this winter, be it for a sunny lunch alfresco any given day of the week and even more so for a great Saturday night out with some of the best line ups the island has seen over the past few months. Sirocco is open on almost every night during Easter week and DJ/producer Betoko headlines the line up on Thursday, with support from Dimitri Nakov and more. Also, mind that when the fun at Sirocco stops at 4am, there's almost always after hours fun at MOMA just a few minutes away - yay!
Friday 29th March
Good Friday should start with another visit on San An's sunset strip. MINT celebrates the beginning of another season and their pizzas as well as cocktails are really mint. Once the sun's gone, you should definitely make your way over to Playa d'en Bossa and Ibiza Town again, you've got a massive night ahead! Nassau opens and their opening fiesta is always a very cool affair. Next door, the Ibiza Global Radio guys Jose Maria Ramon and Miguel Garji play at Sirocco. But make sure you don't miss Shardana that night - you wouldn't want to miss Alfredo & Jaime Fiorito playing together would you? The two heads behind the Spotlight Album are performing under their Heritage Project moniker and this is an event just not to miss. There is one more important party though, Be Crazy with probably the strongest line up of the Pacha Easter week: Jean Claude Ades, UNER, Ejeca and Tuccillo plus residents. Gone are those quiet Ibiza winter weekends with just one or two parties to choose from...
Saturday 30th March
Easter Saturday marks the start for another season of luxurious exuberance at Blue Marlin in Cala Jondal. Again, one of those events you just can't afford to miss. This one starts off in the afternoon and goes on until after midnight, so there's some flexibility if you had a big night out on Friday. Valentin Huedo, Tom Crane and Vidal Rodriguez are on DJ duties. There is one very good alternative to BM if you're not up for stilettos, but also daytime: drive up to Cala San Vicente and have a look at Hidden's Easter Fayre. During the winter months, we fell in love with both the place as well as the people behind Hidden. Go convince yourself.
After Hidden and/or Blue Marlin, we suggest a visit at the Custo night at NINE in Ibiza town, where music is provided by Oriol Calvo and Jose Maria Ramon, followed by Pacha. With Todd Terry on the decks and Rebeka Brown on the mic, this night is bound to be sweet.
Sunday 31st March
If you missed Blue Marlin on Saturday, there's always the second day of their opening celebrations on Easter Sunday, with Wally Lopez amongst others. So that's just one way how you could recover from Saturday night. The guys behind Sexy & Chic announced another of their infamous villa parties for Sunday night. The location is kept secret until that night of course, but rest assured a big number of people will head off to this once Blue Marlin closes. And in case you haven't made it to Pacha on any of the previous nights yet, there's the Ibiza Talents night on Sunday with Danito, Alex Kennon plus Pacha residents.
Monday 1st April
Easter Monday promises to be a quieter affair (finally!). Two suggestions for you to finish off your Ibiza Easter break. Drive up to Benirras and enjoy the opening celebration with music and performances at Elements, starting at 4pm.
Alternatively, it's off to Playa d'en Bossa once more for Rewind at Nassau. This nice little fiesta starts already at 2pm and music will be provided by Tuccillo, Miguel Garji and more.
Time to get into summer rhythm again...
