Ibiza Wine Stats

Last year's grape harvest in the Balearic produced over 7 million kilos.

Last year's grape harvest in the Balearic produced over 7 million kilos of grapes which thanks to the high temperatures and low rainfall in August and September will produce wines of excellent qualkity.

Numerically the harvest is 13% less than the previous year, but still 7% more than the average over the last few years. In terms of wine, it enabled Ibiza and Formentera's vineyards to produce 1871 hectolitres of red, white and rose wines. Baffled? Allow me to translate, around a quarter of a million bottles of wine were produced in 2011!!

Next time you're in Ibiza, try some local wine – it's sold in the big supermarkets and is really good.
