What a start to September! The hot humid month of August, where temperatures have been higher than average, disappeared without a trace in a massive 30 minute deluge of torrential rain in the south and east of the island on Sunday. Now the skies have cleared, the sun is out, the breeze is fresh and the weather is absolutely perfect for anyone here or arriving soon.

Additionally, the island is noticeably not so packed after the mass exodus of the Spanish, French and Italians who traditionally take their holidays in August. It's so much easier already to get about on the roads, find parking spaces, and, dare I say it, find taxis. I actually saw one on the rank in San Jose this morning instead of the normal tumble weed that's been blowing about there for months!

medieval marine festival, san antonioApart from the normal clubbing and musical activities which you can find on our Clubbing Calendar and Twitter account there are three small local festivals which give a taste of life in the villages and small towns of Ibiza when they celebrate. The big days are Jesus on the 8th, San Mateo on the 21st, and San Miguel on the 29th with plenty of music, games, sports and competitions for all.

Details are scant at the moment but we do know that Jesus (Heysoos) will have an 80's themed party and a fireworks display on the 8th.

At the end of the month, 28th to 30th, to be precise, San Antonio will hold its now annual Medieval Marine Festival which is sure to shiver your timbers with an eclectic mix of pirates, snake charmers, strolling musicians, plenty of market stalls and entertainment which all takes place on the sea front in the town centre.

modified ibiza

On exactly the same dates but across the briny in San Antonio Bay, Modified Ibiza brings back the heady days of the 60's when mohair suits, scooters and soul music were all the rage. So get your parka on and scoot over to the Playa Bella apartments to see what it's all about.
