Such is Ibiza's allure, that the cross pollination of people found living here is about as diverse as anywhere on the planet.
The next entry into our residents series is British DJ, Miss Foster. Though she hasn't exactly taken a direct route to Ibiza from her homeland. En route, she developed a bit of a taste for living and playing in far-flung destinations - a true Miss International.
Before settling here, Miss Foster has called Dubai and Thailand her home, though she seemed destined to end up here eventually. That's just the magnetic pull of the island. Once you're locked within her field, you find it hard to let go.
Having laid roots here (at least for the time being) by starting a family, Sophie has successfully juggled motherhood with her career ambitions. After two big bookings last month, we managed to find time in her busy schedule to find out what she's been up to.
Q & A
Hi Sophie. Thanks for chatting with us. You live in Ibiza now, but we understand you've lived and DJed at quite a few exotic places prior to here?
"I've been fortunate to have DJed internationally quite a bit, so it's been quite the adventure so far.
I left London seven years ago to set up life in Dubai where I stayed for three years, during which I held a two year residency at 360. Whilst there, I travelled to India and Canada for gigs. Good times.
My adventures in the Middle East were followed by a two year stint in the crazy city of Bangkok."
"There I hosted my own underground house night called Discipline, running DJ competitions to give opportunities to up-and-coming artists in the city. One weekend I flew to Shanghai to do a gig with the Pacha crew at the W Hotel. That was an absolute scream!
Another memorable one was a 12 hour stop over in Hong Kong, during which I played at a members only club, to then jump straight back on a plane at sunrise and carry on my journey to Canada.
On the return to Thailand I did the same 12 hour stopover with gig, this time in Chicago. Madness.
I have so many great memories from my travels. I don't think the travel bug has left me just yet."
Why did you decide to move here?
"Ibiza has always held a very special place in my heart. Like many others, my love for the island started as a clubber. Every summer from the age of 18, I'd come over for a week long holiday of debauchery with friends, making memories to last a lifetime."
"After living in Bangkok, moving to Ibiza felt like a natural move. As luck would have it, most of my friends from the UK managed to end up here as well. My husband also lives and works all over Europe. Ibiza felt like the obvious choice to locate.
The best thing about living here, is that even after 15 years, I can still feel completely and utterly blown away when I walk into a club.
The atmosphere you experience inside a nightclub in Ibiza is unmatched anywhere in the world."
You recently supported Lufthaus at Ibiza Rocks, which included a surprise appearance by Robbie Williams. How was it?
"That was a fun gig! The crowd were well up for it by that point after going crazy during Robbie's performance. I like what they're doing - the combination of electronic music alongside Robbie's voice and stage presence really works."
"The booth at Ibiza Rocks has got that festival stage kinda feel, so that was fun. Plus, I got to play on the new Pioneer CDJ 3000s, which is always interesting."
You've also had some exciting developments in your personal life: getting married and becoming a mum. How have you found balancing family life with your career?
"Yesss! We got married this summer and our gorgeous little Charlie boy is nine months old now.
I'm a very driven person. At times it's been hard accepting that this year is all about Charlie and not about me progressing in my DJ career. Having a baby certainly throws your life upside down, but in the best possible way."
"With Charlie being so young, in truth there's not really been much 'balancing' going on at all! That said, I have been quietly (and slowly) focusing on my productions at home and been appreciative of any DJing opportunities that have come my way this summer.
In terms of preparing for gigs, I'll jump on Rekordbox as soon as Charlie goes to sleep and try to have a play around on my decks at home. Talk about contrast!"
You recently played for Santanna Oush at Pikes. How was it?
"OuShe parties always have a good vibe. The all female line-up brings a vibrant energy to the event, coupled with the intimacy of old Ibiza that Pikes emulates makes for a wicked party."
"We had a super strong line up that night and plenty of the Oushe crew were out in full support. There'll be plenty more Oushe parties to come. Plus you can't complain with the sound system inside Freddies. Oooooof!"
Apart from DJing, do you have anything else going on?
"Before I had Charlie, I was running my own business as marketing coach, which I'm excited to get back up and running sometime next year. I enjoy CrossFit and I get my daily fix with the Rewild crew in Santa Gertrudis.
Apart from that, when the weather cools down I'm looking forward to going hiking again. Walking is one of my favourite things to do and you couldn't get a more beautiful place to walk and catch up with your mates than here in Ibiza."
